To realise the full potential of your new laminate floor, please follow the recommendations below:
For glue-together floors:
- Do not walk on your new floor for 12 hours after installation (N.B. Snap-lock floors may be enjoyed immediately after installation)
- You may clean your laminate flooring 24 hours after installation. It can be cleaned with a slightly damp mop or laminate floor cleaner
- Peaked joints are normal and indicate that the proper amount of glue was used. Once the moisture in the glue evaporates, the peaking disappears, usually within 2 to 6 weeks
- Any glue haze will disappear after the flow has been mopped a few times with clear water or a mixture of vinegar and water
For all laminate floors:
- Entry mats are a great way to keep all dirt and grit outside, and your new laminate floor looking good inside
- Never use soap and water to clean a laminate floor
- Never use wax or polish; laminate floors stay shiny by themselves
- It is always a good idea to purchase clean felt protectors to prevent your furniture from scratching your floor
- Avoid wearing high heeled shoes (especially stilettos) as they may dent your new flooring
- Direct sunlight can often make wooden flooring mature in colour
